A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Chief Mark Ugorji, says his 25 year marriage with Dr. Mrs Odiwonma Ugorji, has been without sorrows, mourning, pain and sickness.
Ugorji, who spoke at Christ Embassy Church, Opposite Government House, Umuahia on Sunday, at an occasion to mark his 25th wedding anniversary, said God has been the foundation of their marriage.
According to him, transparency, openness, love, prayers among other virtues, have become inseparable virtues further binding the marriage.
The APC chieftain, added that these 25 years, has seen the family stick together in prayers even when they had nothing, emphasising that God has been the foundation of their marriage.
”We have never ceased putting up smiles always. Situations have never weighed us down in our marriage. When there is money or no money, we live in peace. And God has been so kind, faithful.”
”Marriage is not a bed of roses. We have passed through a lot. When people left me, I didn’t feel it because I have my wife who is always supportive. She will always say to me, don’t shake, or panic. I just can’t thank God enough for giving me a woman that understands me.”
Ugorji also thanked God for his protection and guidance over his family, saying that from childhood till now, his children have not spent a day in hospital, adding that His grace has been sufficient upon members of his family.
He also appreciated friends and well-wishers who, despite their tight schedules, made out time to celebrate their 25 years of marriage, encouraging them to anchor their marriage on God, insisting that His word is potent.
Also sharing her experiences this 25 years, Dr. Odiwonma Ugorji, the wife of Chief Mark Ugorji, described their union as one hatched in heaven, emphasising that this 25 years has availed her the opportunity to understand her husband better.
According to her, they have passed through thick and thin emphasising that God has been the bedrock of their union amid turbulent situations.
She said God showed Himself by blessing them with excellent, obedient, caring and lovely children who have always made the family proud both in character, love for God as well as in character.
While praying for the family, the Zonal Pastor, South-East Christ Embassy, Umuahia, Chika Alex, urged the couple to continue in the direction they are going, praying God to continue sustaining and preserving their union.
Earlier in his opening speech, the Chairman of the occasion, High Chief Engr. Okwudiri Ibenegbu, commended the couple for 25 years of uninterrupted relationship, praying God to keep preserving their marriage.
