As part of efforts to guarantee a peaceful yuletide celebration, the Kwara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Dr. Umar J.G. Muhammed, has authorized the deployment of 2,380 officers and men to strengthen the protection of critical national assets, safeguard public facilities, and ensure the safety of residents throughout the yuletide season.
ASC Ayoola Michael Shola, CDPRO, Kwara State Command, in a statement on Saturday stated that the commandant disclosed that the deployment covers all 16 local government areas of the state.
He revealed that personnel were drawn from elite and specialized units, including the Armed Squad, Operational Harmony, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandal Unit, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive, CBRNE, Unit.
The statement further said officers have been strategically positioned based on threat assessments and operational requirements, revealing that the Command will co-ordinate closely with other security agencies, including local vigilantes, to ensure effective coverage, rapid response, and comprehensive security throughout the festive period.
While extending his warm Christmas and New Year greetings to the people of Kwara State, the commandant, Muhammed, warned vandals and troublemakers, saying that the NSCDC is fully prepared to confront any attempt to disrupt public peace or tamper with critical assets, and that all offenders will face the full weight of the law.
Muhammed enjoined members of the public to remain vigilant and security-conscious, encouraging them to report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency, noting that community cooperation is vital to a safe and peaceful festive season.
