UMUAHIA — The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Chief Eric Opah, has declared that Abia State will return President Bola Ahmed Tinubu massively in the 2027 presidential election.
Opah made the declaration on Thursday at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, during the inauguration of the Abia State APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) for the re-election of President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Addressing party leaders, stakeholders and members of the newly inaugurated council, Opah said there is something that must change in Abia come 2027. Not only will President Tinubu win the election, he will win with the greater percentage of votes in the state.
”I will tell you why he will win. And I will tell you why we will have the greater percentage of votes in Abia,” Opah said.
”Abia registered APC members is over 100,000. Therefore, we are going to vote along that line. We are not giving 5,000 of 2023. We are giving over 100,000.”
He said the party in Abia has also built a coalition of other parties who believe in the President’s work in Nigeria, and who have resolved to work for his re-election.
”So we have coalition of other parties who said they believe in the President’s work in Nigeria. Therefore, Abia will return Mr. President massively, very massively,” he said.
Opah said he would only yield credence to what the keynote speaker, Professor Nto, enumerated as the achievements of the President, but added that there were other reasons Abians should return him.
”Number one, the Port Harcourt-Enugu Expressway. It was a death trap. Kidnappers and accidents on that road. Mr. President gave a standing instruction. Today, that road is receiving attention. It’s a good reason why we should return Mr. President,” he said.
He listed as number two, the 188 megawatts power plant in Abia, which he described as the creation of Mr. President.
”Mr. President supported to resolve the logjam over the years. And that’s a good reason to return Mr. President,” Opah said.
He also cited the new tax laws, which he said have ended the hydra-headed tax regime that burdened traders.
“The tax laws written for our traders. Today, we don’t have the hydra-headed tax laws. So our traders, Abia is a hub of commerce in Nigeria, in the South East. So our traders are going to enjoy a tax process that you no longer will worry yourself,” he said.
Opah also mentioned the student loan scheme, saying he could go on and on listing the achievements of the President.
”But Abia APC, we are formidable. We have the numbers. Mr. President, we win crystal clear in Abia,” he declared.
He assured the gathering that all structures and units of the party would work together to ensure victory for the President in the 2027 presidential election.
”I want to assure all of us that we will work together. All the structures, all the units to ensure that Mr. President come victorious, come 2027 presidential election, and he will be returned with his deputy as such,” he said.
Opah congratulated all eminent personalities listed as members of the PCC in Abia State, describing them as qualified and eminent personalities.
”I see array of people, qualified, eminent personalities. I say to you, thank you for all your hard work that you’ve made it to the list. The work is still ahead,” he said.
”We will all work together to ensure that Mr. President is delivered come 2027,” Opah concluded.
