The Federal Government has approved the implementation of the 2026 Fiscal Policy Measures and Tariff Amendments to strengthen Nigeria’s fiscal and trade framework, boost competitiveness, and enhance revenue generation.

‎A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, Abdullahi Maiwada, said the measures introduce key changes to the Customs and Excise Tariff.
‎
‎These include revised ECOWAS Common External Tariff lists, import and export prohibition lists, excise duty schedules, and a Green Tax surcharge on vehicles with engine capacities of 2,000cc and above.
‎
‎Importers, exporters, manufacturers, licensed customs agents, and other stakeholders are required to familiarise themselves with the new tariff schedules and comply with the updated fiscal and regulatory requirements.

‎The Nigeria Customs Service said it has published the full document on its official website to promote transparency and ensure smooth implementation.
‎
‎The Service said successful implementation will depend on stakeholders’ cooperation in advancing trade facilitation, revenue collection, border security, and sustainable economic growth.
