The Oyo State Police Command has secured the release of Mr. Owoade Mathew, a farmer who was abducted along the Igbojaye–Budo Aare bush road on 12th July 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the victim regained his freedom on the evening of 13th July 2026 following a coordinated joint security operation and sustained pressure on the abductors.
The statement said the intense operation forced the hoodlums to abandon Mr. Owoade, who was subsequently rescued unhurt.
He has been taken to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment. The police added that he will be debriefed by investigators after his medical attention as part of efforts to identify and prosecute those behind the abduction.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, psc, mnips, commended sister security agencies and members of the public for their support during the operation. He assured residents that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property in the state.
CP Olugbenga also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies.
