‎The Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Tuesday commissioned 80 housing units under the Nigerian Army Affordable Home Ownership Scheme in Jos, Plateau State.

‎In a release by Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director Army Public Relations, the COAS said the project reflects his “Soldier-First Culture” and is aimed at improving the welfare, morale, and combat readiness of personnel.

‎“Providing quality and affordable housing for personnel is a deliberate investment in the welfare, morale and combat readiness of soldiers,” General Shaibu was quoted as saying.

‎According to the release, 60 units were delivered last year, while 120 units in Abuja and 40 units in Benin are scheduled for commissioning.

‎General Shaibu also announced that five percent of the housing units have been reserved for soldiers wounded in action, which he described as a mark of gratitude to personnel injured in service.

‎The COAS further commissioned trainee hostels and convenience facilities at the 3 Division Training School, Jos, as part of the visit.

‎Earlier, the Managing Director of Post-Service Housing Development Limited, Major General Isaiah Alison, said additional housing projects are underway for soldiers nationwide.
