A security expert, Zagazola Makama, has reported that more than 150 suspected bandits drowned after a boat carrying them capsized in Sokoto State’s Sabon Gida area.
‎
‎Citing local sources, Makama said the incident occurred Saturday evening when the vessel, carrying a large number of armed men, overturned while crossing a water body in the area.
‎
‎The bandits were reportedly travelling in large numbers when the boat suddenly capsized, throwing all occupants into the water.
‎
‎Preliminary reports indicated that none of the occupants survived the incident, though there was no official confirmation from security agencies at the time of filing this report.
‎
‎If confirmed, the development could deal a significant blow to criminal groups operating in parts of the North-West region.
