After Benin Failed Coup, ADC Urges FG to be Decisive in Tackling Insecurity

Must read

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has urged the President Bola Tinubu led federal government to show urgency in addressing Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.

‎‎Citing the swift response shown by the Nigerian government during the failed coup attempt in Benin, ADC commended the Federal Government while urging the President to show such urgency in tackling insecurity in Nigeria.

‎‎In a statement on Monday, ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi highlighted the government’s quick intervention in Benin, where pro-government forces, supported by Nigerian troops and air support, overpowered soldiers who had seized the national television station and declared the ouster of President Patrice Talon.

‎While commending the rapid response, the ADC questioned why similar decisive action has not been applied to tackling banditry, terrorism, and violent crime within Nigeria.

‎The ADC emphasised that defending democracy requires good governance, improved citizen welfare, and tolerance for opposing views.

‎‎It called on the government to address domestic insecurity with the same determination demonstrated in Benin, stating that protecting Nigerian lives is crucial to sustaining democracy.
