As part of measures to ensure a hitch-free celebration, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abia State Command, says it has deployed 850 officers and men across the state to ensure a peaceful 2025 yuletide celebration.
Speaking on what necessitated the deployment, the State Commandant, Commandant Akinsola, said the operation is aimed at safeguarding lives, public and private property, as well as Critical National Assets and Infrastructure during the festive period.

NSCDC, Abia State Command, ASC II Doreen Udugwu, said the State Commandant, explained that the deployed officers and men have been strategically positioned to carry out round-the-clock patrols, surveillance and intelligence-driven operations.
The spokesperson added that this operation, is in collaboration with other security agencies, to ensure prompt response to any security threat, saying, “Command has put adequate security measures in place to protect residents and visitors, particularly in areas with high human traffic such as markets, worship centres, motor parks and recreational facilities.”
The statement further revealed that the Commandant, also used to opportunity to warned criminals and vandals to stay away from Abia State, emphasising that the Command will deal decisively with anyone found attempting to breach the peace or sabotage Critical Infrastructures.
Akinsola, while wishing residents a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, urged members of the public to remain vigilant and co-operate with security agencies by providing timely and useful information that would enhance security throughout the festive season.
