Security expert Bakatsine has reported that troops of 17 Brigade under Operation CLEAN SWEEP III on Sunday executed a precise intelligence-led raid on a bandits’ enclave in Ginchawa, Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
In a post on X on Monday, Bakatsine said the operation resulted in the killing of two bandits, while several others fled with suspected gunshot wounds after being overwhelmed by the troops’ superior firepower.
According to him, items recovered during the raid included two PKT machine guns, a dane gun, an AK-47 magazine, 75 rounds of 7.62mm linked NATO ammunition, three motorcycles, mobile phones, a Motorola radio, camouflage uniform and livestock.
He noted that no casualties were recorded among the troops.
“This operation once again shows the courage, professionalism and fighting spirit of Nigerian troops who continue to take the battle to terrorist elements despite difficult terrain and significant risks,” Bakatsine stated.
He added that their relentless pursuit of criminal groups, commitment to protecting communities and willingness to confront danger head-on deserve the highest commendation, commending the officers and soldiers of 17 Brigade for another successful operation in defence of the nation.
