A 15-year-old girl, Amarachi Chidiebere, who narrowly escaped being crushed by a tipper truck on Thursday in Ndiolumbe Autonomous Community, Isiala Ngwa South local government area of Abia State, has successfully undergone abdominal surgery, her family has said.
A family source, Chimezie Nwoko, told Newsbuka on Saturday that Amarachi was rushed to Nenu Specialist Hospital shortly after the incident.
He said medical personnel at the hospital worked to stabilise her condition but she experienced difficulty eating due to internal abdominal injuries sustained in the accident.
According to Nwoko, when her condition showed little improvement, doctors recommended her transfer to Abia State Teaching Hospital Aba for specialist care.
He said the surgery was successful but added that the family has faced significant financial strain in the effort to ensure Amarachi received timely medical attention.
Nwoko expressed gratitude to residents of Ndiolumbe Autonomous Community, friends and other Abians who assisted immediately after the incident by rushing the teenager to hospital. He also appealed for prayers for her full recovery.
The family is further appealing to well-meaning members of the public for financial assistance to help offset medical bills incurred during the surgery.
Newsbuka recalls that Amarachi was almost crushed by a tipper truck on Thursday morning at the popular Ahia Orie Market in Ndiolumbe Autonomous Community.
