A security analyst , Makama has confirmed that two hunters were killed after suspected armed bandits attacked a group in a forest in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

‎The incident was contained in his post shared on X on Wednesday, revealing that the attack happened around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday inside the Kadidda Forest.

‎Makama said the hunters had gone into the forest for what was described as a hunting exhibition when they were ambushed by the attackers.

‎He further stated that the bandits were many in number and armed with sophisticated weapons, adding that two of the hunters were shot at close range and died on the spot, while others managed to escape and later reported the incident to the Tangaza Divisional Police Headquarters.

‎Makama said one of the victims was identified as Nura Usman, 30, from Magonho Village. The identity of the second victim has not yet been confirmed.

‎According to him, troops from a nearby Army Forward Operating Base, alongside other security agencies, were mobilised to the area after the attack but the assailants had fled before the security teams arrived.

‎He also revealed that the bodies of the deceased hunters were evacuated and taken to a hospital in Tangaza.

‎Meanwhile, security forces have since intensified patrols and launched a manhunt across the forest and neighbouring communities to track down the attackers.
