The APC Candidate for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Hon. Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Ph.D, OON, on Wednesday hosted the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for Abia State, Chief Eric Opah, and his running mate, Dr Godswill Agu Egbe, during a consultative visit to Umunneochi Local Government Area.
In a post on her verified X handle, Onyejeocha, former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, said the meeting was not a campaign rally.
”Campaigning has not started and will not begin until August. This was an opportunity for our duly recognised candidates to introduce themselves, identify with our people and consult with party stakeholders. We will continue to conduct our activities within the law,” she stated.
Chief Opah assured the people that his candidacy would unify Abia State, remain close to the grassroots, and prioritise the welfare of Abians. He also pledged that “greed would have no place” in the leadership he hopes to provide.
Onyejeocha said the APC’s journey in Abia would not be built on boasts about money or material strength.
”For us, this journey will not be built on boasts about money or material strength. We do not have the power to accomplish anything on our own. We will come in the name of the Lord and ask Him to show us mercy,” she said.
Describing herself as “a woman of faith,” she added: “I know that when God opens a door, no one can shut it, and when He shuts a door, no one can open it. He is the God of the impossible, because what God cannot do does not exist. Whatever political calculations people may be making, God’s will shall prevail.”
She appreciated the candidates, party leaders, members, and the people of Umunneochi for making the consultation successful, praying that “God’s mercy will carry us through.”
