JOS — Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the dualisation and construction of the Mararaban Jama’a–Pankshin–Langtang–Shendam–River Ibi Road.
In a statement on Sunday, Governor Mutfwang described the project as a historic intervention that will unlock the economic potential of Plateau State, strengthen regional integration, and improve the quality of life of millions of people.
He said the approval of the strategic federal highway demonstrates President Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive national development and his determination to bridge infrastructure gaps across the country.
According to him, the project will facilitate the movement of people and goods, reduce transportation costs, boost agricultural production and commerce, attract investments, promote tourism, and enhance social and economic interactions across the region.
“This approval is not just about the construction of a road; it is about restoring hope, expanding economic opportunities, creating jobs, opening up rural communities, and accelerating the development of the North Central and North-East corridors,” Mutfwang stated.
The Governor expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for responding to the aspirations of Plateau people. He also commended the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for conveying the demands of the people to the President.
“My dear brother, the APC National Chairman, I want to say thank you for conveying the yearnings of our people to Mr. President! Indeed, the award of this long awaited road corridor has renewed the hope of our people in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR,” he said.
Mutfwang equally praised the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, CON, for his dedication in driving the Renewed Hope infrastructure agenda.
He called on citizens of Plateau to remain united and supportive irrespective of political, ethnic or religious affiliations in order to attract more federal projects.
The Governor expressed confidence that upon completion, President Tinubu’s name would be permanently engraved in the hearts of the people of Plateau and Taraba States.
He noted that the road project will also serve as a tribute to the dreams of past Plateau and Middle Belt leaders including General Yakubu Gowon, Senator Jonah Jang, Chief Joshua Dariye, the late Chief Solomon Lar, General T.Y. Danjuma and Senator Simon Lalong.
