Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State on Wednesday announced a three-member panel to investigate the remote and immediate causes of the recent student protest at Kwara State Polytechnic.
The Governor has also directed the Rector, Abdul Jimoh Mohamed, to step down pending the investigation into the recent breach of law and order on the main campus.
Newsbuka reports that the committee is headed by the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Senior Ibrahim Sulyman.
Other members include; Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Nafisat Buge, and the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare, Dr Mrs Mercy Olufunke Shittu.
A statement issued in Ilorin on Wednesday by the state Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, said the committee was given two weeks to submit its report to the governor.
Meanwhile, its terms of reference include: to examine the remote and immediate causes of the protest, the handling of the situation, and recommending ways to prevent similar incidents in the future, as well as making further recommendations on the growth of the institution.
