‎Insecurity: APGA Tasks South-East Govs to Hold Emergency Security Summit

Must read

‎Worried by security concerns in the South-East zone lately, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) South-East Zone has called for an immediate and joint action from the Governors of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States to flush out terrorists, armed herdsmen and violent criminal gangs from the South-East to make the region safest in the country

‎Members of the party made the call in a Statement signed by its Vice Chairman South-East Zone Rev. Augustine Ehiemere and made available to newsmen.

‎They noted that APGA being the only true indigenous political party in Igboland can no longer remain silent and watch until these elements are flushed out from the country.

‎‎The party stated that the recent viral video of heavily armed militants boasting to have entered Igboland, including the attack on Governor Otti’s advance team on December 2nd 2025 along the Imo-Abia corridor, the daily killings and kidnappings in the South-East are testimonies that the enemies are in bushes and forests of Igboland.

‎‎In the light of the above, APGA calls on the governors to as a matter of urgency convene an Emergency Security Summit in any of the State capitals to adopt a unified and aggressive regional security strategy to forestall future security issues

‎‎The party also demanded a Jointly deployed reinforcement of security patrols along all inter-state boundaries and highways across the region; and to replicate and improve upon the successful Anambra Vigilante model pioneered by Governor Chukwuma Soludo across all the South-East States among others.

‎APGA lauded President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly for amending the constitution to allow the creation of State Police, as well as appointment of retired Major General Christopher Musa as the Minister of Defence, expressing hope that with these steps the era of over-centralised and ineffective policing would soon be a thing of the past

‎‎While emphasising the need for vigilance, APGA urged every son and daughter of Igboland to stay vigilant this yuletide and report suspicious movements to appropriate quarters.
