Newsbuka has learnt that Singa Market along Bello Road in Kano, has been gutted by fire.
It was gathered that the incident caused panic among traders and residents in the area.
Witnesses said the fire started in the early hours of Monday, with flames spreading to parts of the market and destroying goods and other valuable items belonging to traders.
Those at the scene decried that urgent intervention needed to prevent the fire from spreading further was not provided immediately.
Meanwhile, as at press time, the cause of the fire had not been identified, and there was no official information on whether lives were lost and the degree of property destroyed.
