A former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani has charged opposition lawmakers to muster the courage to speak up in chamber against alleged sabotage and delay in passage of amendments to the Electoral Act 2022 at the National Assembly.
‎
‎According to him, this is a better option than the opposition accusing the National Assembly leadership of sabotaging reforms.
‎
‎Posting on his verified X handle on Monday, Sani stated that it was not enough for the opposition to raise alarm, noting that it must get its lawmakers to react to the matter.
‎
‎Recall that on January 22, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said loopholes in the Electoral Act 2022 were a major setback to the 2023 elections and could derail the 2027 elections if not plugged.
‎
‎He accused the Senate of frustrating passage of amendments to the Electoral Act 2022, saying that the credibility of the 2027 general elections hinges on the urgency with which the Senate treats the crucial bill.
