ZAMFARA — Operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, in Zamfara State have rescued the remaining five students of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, who were kidnapped in June.
Security expert Zagazola Makama disclosed this on his X handle.
According to the report, DSS operatives, relying on intelligence, rescued the students late Wednesday without any ransom paid. The rescued students comprise four males and one female.
One of the kidnappers was arrested during the operation. The others did not survive.
The students were kidnapped on June 3 at their off-campus hostel in the Low-cost area of Kaura Namoda town after armed bandits stormed the building and seized six of them.
Following the earlier release of two of the six students, security forces intensified an intelligence-led operation and surgically secured the safe return of the remaining students.
The latest rescue comes days after DSS operatives also rescued a professor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

The rescue has brought relief to the families of the victims and the management of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda.
Security agencies have reiterated their commitment to intelligence-driven operations to secure the release of kidnap victims and degrade criminal networks in the North West.
