WARRI — The Delta State Police Command says its operatives have arrested two suspected criminals and recovered firearms, ammunition, and suspected cocaine during a stop-and-search operation along the Agbarho–Warri Road.
A statement by the Command on Sunday said the suspects were intercepted while travelling in a grey Mercedes-Benz ML SUV.
During interrogation, police said a third occupant escaped into a nearby swamp and is currently being hunted by operatives.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of two locally fabricated Beretta pistols, nine rounds of live ammunition, about 200 grams of suspected cocaine, a walkie-talkie, a dagger, a grinder, and two sophisticated mobile phones.
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intensifying the crackdown on illegal firearms, drug trafficking, and other violent crimes across the state.
CP Oyeniyi also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing security operations.
