Bandits have reportedly killed Lauwali Dan Tambai, commander of the Zamfara Community Protection Guard (ZCPG) in Goran Namaye, Maradun LGA of Zamfara State.
In a post on Monday by security expert Bakatsine via his verified X handle, Tambai was killed by the assailants while returning from his farm.
Tambai, widely described as a brave community defender, had risked his life to protect civilians and property amid worsening insecurity.
According to Bakatsine, his killing is another stark reminder of the deadly cost of rural violence in the Northwest region of Nigeria.
Experts have cited porous borders, weak governance, climate pressures, and poverty as reasons for persistent bandit attacks.
