A frontline support group of the African Democratic Congress, ADC Like-Minds, has commended the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, for choosing former Rivers State governor and two-time Minister of Transport, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, as his running mate for the January 2027 election.
ADC National Publicity Secretary, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, announced the decision yesterday, describing the Atiku/Amaechi ticket as a platform for national unity.
The party said Amaechi’s emergence followed extensive consultations with party leaders, coalition partners, youth, women groups, and representatives from the six geo-political zones.
He earned the nomination after emerging runner-up in ADC’s presidential primary and receiving widespread support from members.
According to the party, the partnership brings together two tested leaders with the capacity to address Nigeria’s challenges of insecurity, economic decline, and poor infrastructure.
“The Atiku/Amaechi ticket represents more than a political alliance. It is the coming together of two statesmen committed to national renewal,” the party stated.
ADC Like-Minds noted that Amaechi’s political influence in the South-South and across Southern Nigeria will strengthen the ticket’s national outlook and electoral appeal. His record as governor and Minister of Transportation, where he supervised major rail projects, underscores his competence.
The group called on party members, civil society, youth, women leaders, and stakeholders to support the campaign for national transformation.
“With Atiku and Amaechi, Nigerians have a credible alternative. This ticket sends a clear message: ADC is ready to govern, unite the nation, and deliver results.”
