Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain and former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Victor Okezie Ikpeazu, has charged Abia indigenes living in Valencia, Spain to uphold hard work, integrity and unity, saying their conduct reflects the image of Nigeria.
‎
‎Ikpeazu gave the charge while serving as Special Guest of Honour at the 16th Anniversary Celebration of Ndi Abia in Diaspora, Valencia Chapter.
‎
‎The former governor disclosed this in a post on his official X handle.
‎
‎According to the post, Ambassador Ikpeazu told the gathering that every Nigerian in the diaspora plays a critical role in shaping how Nigeria is seen and understood in the world.
‎
‎He described Nigerians in the diaspora as valuable assets, noting that Nigerians abroad serve as cultural bridges, investment promoters and informal ambassadors.
‎
‎Ikpeazu specifically lauded the entrepreneurial spirit of Abia people, particularly in craftsmanship, tailoring and shoemaking, and urged them to remain proud of their Igbo heritage while contributing to the development of both Spain and Abia State.
‎
‎He pledged the Embassy’s continued support to the Association and assured that the mission under his leadership would maintain an open and collaborative relationship with Nigerians in Spain.
‎
‎Since presenting his Letters of Credence to King Felipe VI at the Royal Palace in Madrid in September 2026, Ambassador Ikpeazu has been active on the diplomatic front.
‎
‎He recently participated in the 27th International Frozen Seafood Exhibition, CONXEMAR 2026, in Vigo, Galicia, where he engaged Spanish investors to attract investment into Nigeria’s blue economy, and also visited Spanish defence and industrial firm, Technology and Security Developments (TSD), to explore cooperation in defence and industrial development.
