At a time when other constituencies are yearning for representatives who can attract the dividends of democracy like Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha did during her time, it is regrettable that some people in Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency are playing down those achievements.
The truth is simple. While federal presence and institutions that can touch thousands of families are within reach, some constituents are being lured with candidates who can only offer keke and motorcycle empowerment.
Is that actually what the people want?
Federal presence, in the form of institutions, roads, health centers, and employment opportunities, is far more impactful than sharing kekes and motorcycles that can never go round.
Federal presence and institutions that will touch many families are better for us than sharing keke and motorcycles that will benefit only a handful.
We must look beyond short-term handouts and make a choice that will guarantee continued federal presence and development in our area.
Ndi Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, shine your eyes this time. We need to send Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha back for that continued federal presence in the constituency.
Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, a former Minister of State for Labour and Employment and member who represented Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, is widely credited with attracting federal projects and appointments to the constituency during her tenure. Her track record is there for all to see.
It is also important that we queue behind Onyejeocha because her party, the APC, is the ruling government at the centre. This will enable optimum benefits for our constituency.
The choice before us is clear. Do we want handouts that will finish in a month, or do we want institutions that will employ our children for a lifetime?
For Isuikwuato/Umunneochi to move forward, we must choose federal presence.
