The Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ibe Okwara, has flagged off a Free Medical and Surgical Outreach for residents of Arochukwu and Ohafia Local Government Areas.

‎The outreach, organised in collaboration with the Okwara Foundation, commenced on Tuesday, 14th July, 2026, and will run simultaneously for three days at six Primary Health Centres across both LGAs. The centres are:

‎1. Ogwu Ufie Primary Health Centre, Elu Nnko, Ohafia LGA

‎2. Ania Primary Health Centre, Akanu, Ohafia LGA

3. Ndioji Abam Primary Health Centre, Abam, Arochukwu LGA

‎4. Okagwe Agboji Primary Health Centre, Abiriba, Ohafia LGA

‎5. Eleoha Primary Health Centre, Ututu, Arochukwu LGA

6. Amuyi Primary Health Centre, Arochukwu LGA

‎Speaking at the flag-off, Dr. Francis Uchenna Kalu, said the outreach is designed to provide free medical and surgical care to residents of the constituency.

‎The outreach is to offer free healthcare services to the locals. We are looking at both medical and surgical procedures for the residents,” he stated.

‎Dr. Kalu noted that while the Honourable Member organizes similar outreaches multiple times a year, this edition is more extensive. It is running concurrently at six locations and involves greater funding and deployment of personnel.

‎He further disclosed that the Foundation is working in partnership with the Abia State Ministry of Health, and that certified doctors and specialists are on ground to attend to patients. He added that there are cases requiring further scrutiny and consistent follow-up.

‎Dr. Kalu explained that surgical procedures will take place at two designated centres: Ania PHC, Akanu in Ohafia LGA, and Ndioji PHC, Abam in Arochukwu LGA. All surgical cases from the other centres will be referred to these two locations.

‎He emphasised that a team of consultants, over thirty nurses, surgeons, pharmacists, and other medical specialists have been deployed to ensure quality service delivery.

‎Beneficiaries of the programme expressed appreciation. Mr. Friday Amaonyeze, who came for treatment with his son, said services were going well and expressed hope that more cases would be attended to.

Mrs. Enyidiya Uka also thanked Hon. Okwara for the free eye care and surgical services, praying that God will continue to bless him for his commitment to the welfare of his constituents.
