Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have detected and safely detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) planted near the exit gate of Gajiram town along the Maiduguri axis in Borno State.
‎
‎Security expert Zagazola Makama said the incident occurred at about 9:09 a.m. on April 21, when the Explosive Ordnance Disposal/Route Clearance (EOD/RD) team attached to Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gajiram discovered the device during routine scanning operations.
‎
‎Quoting military sources, Makama said the device was immediately secured and safely detonated in a controlled manner to prevent harm to civilians or troops in the area.
‎
‎He added that troops conducted further sweeps and surveillance of the general area after the detonation to ensure no additional threats remained.
‎
‎According to him, the security situation in Gajiram remains calm but unpredictable, with intensified patrols and monitoring ongoing along key access routes.
‎
‎Military authorities said the swift response demonstrates the vigilance and preparedness of troops in countering explosive threats posed by insurgent elements in the theatre of operations.
