The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says it won’t sit idly by as retirees are denied entitlements, civil servants face hardship, and the state underperforms despite huge financial inflows.

APC faulted Governor Alex Otti for allowing agents to insult Abians demanding accountability while he projects lies and falsehood via media and skit makers.

The APC noted that Otti appears uncomfortable with scrutiny, deploying attack machinery against those questioning fraud, lack of transparency, and misgovernance.

The party recalled Otti’s agents attacked Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, whom he once eulogized, and APC Chairman Hon. Chijioke Chukwu for exposing mismanagement.

In a statement on Sunday, Abia APC Publicity Secretary Uche Aguoru revealed that Abia earns ₦60 billion monthly, yet citizens struggle to survive.

APC described Otti’s claim that Abia was first to pay the new minimum wage as propaganda, noting the state hasn’t fully implemented it and workers are among the poorest paid.

Abia APC highlighted that local governments receive ₦450-₦600 million monthly but lack ₦50 million projects in two years, raising diversion concerns.

The party questioned Otti’s transparency, citing contracts awarded to associates from his Umuehim Nvosi residence without due process.

APC insisted that no extraordinary development is happening in Abia, unlike other states benefiting from APC-led federal allocations. The party said Otti’s emergence was due to political conspiracy, urging him to stop living in denial and address Abia’s challenges.

APC warned Otti’s attack dogs that the party won’t be intimidated by their insults, adding that it will continue to demand transparency and accountability.

It also said the brand new APC Chairman Hon. Chijioke Chukwu remains resolute in leading APC to victory and liberating Abia from a “fraudulent and failing administration”.

APC vowed to reclaim Abia State, targeting 3 senatorial seats, 8 House of Reps seats, 24 Assembly seats, and the Government House in 2027 under Hon. Chijioke Chukwu’s leadership.

The statement partly read: “All Progressives Congress in Abia state has noticed a disturbing pattern in Abia State, the moment you demand accountability, you are immediately targeted, bullied, and insulted by agents of Governor Alex Otti.

“The Governor appears deeply uncomfortable with scrutiny and quick to deploy his attack machinery against anyone who dares to question the high level fraud, lack of transparency and misgovernance being experienced in the state.

‎”Unfortunately, no one is spared from this coordinated onslaught, not even those who assisted him to power.

“It is both ironic and alarming to hear the government’s spokesman claim that “Abia was the first state to pay the new minimum wage,” what an audacious liar, it is common knowledge that this administration has elevated propaganda to a governance tool, More troubling is a government that not only tells lies but appears to believe their own lies.

‎”To date, the Abia State Government has yet to fully implement the federally approved minimum wage. We remain in constant touch with civil servants, and records clearly show that Abia workers are among the poorest paid in the Southeast and indeed among the lowest paid nationwide. For instance, while a Grade Level 7 officer in Imo State earns about ₦145,000, their counterpart in Abia earns between ₦80,000-₦90,000. What better definition of wickedness and insensitivity to citizens’ welfare?”
