Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a socio-political group, the Old Aba Division People’s Forum, has endorsed the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Abia State, Chief Eric Opah, describing him as an aboriginal son, Nfu-La-Ala, of Old Aba Division, Ukwa/Ngwa.

‎The Forum, which comprises a significant number of members from the Ukwa/Ngwa extraction, said the endorsement is borne out of the need to identify with “one of their own” who has established himself and recorded success over the years.

‎Rising from a meeting held on Friday in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of Abia State, the Forum issued a strong communiqué.

‎According to the communiqué, read by Elder John Nwangborogwu, the Forum’s decision is based on the fact that the APC, as a leading political party, has granted its governorship ticket for the 2027 Abia State election to an aboriginal son of Old Aba Division, Ukwa/Ngwa, Chief Eric Opah, Nfu-La-Ala, Nwa-Afo Ukwa/Ngwa.

‎“In the light of the above, we have resolved to totally align with and massively support the APC in Abia State and Nigeria as a whole,” the Forum stated.

‎The group congratulated Chief Eric Opah on his emergence as the APC governorship candidate for 2027. It pledged and committed itself to massively supporting him “all the way to his God-ordained victory” in the 2027 election.

‎The Old Aba Division People’s Forum also pledged its unwavering support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

‎The Forum further advised President Tinubu not to take to heart the Labour Party’s promise in the state to vote for him in 2027, describing the statement as deceitful.

‎It also declared support for other APC candidates, including:

‎1. Senate, Abia South Senatorial Zone: Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr

  1. Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency: Rt. Hon. Uzo Azubuike
  2. Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency: Hon. Chris Nkwonta
  3. Obingwa/Ugwunagbo/Osisioma Federal Constituency: Prince Udo Alozie
  4. Isiala Ngwa North/Isiala Ngwa South Federal Constituency: Chief Sir Uzoma Ihuka

‎ from the Old Aba Division, Ukwa/Ngwa Zone
