The Nigerian Army and Guaranty Trust Bank, GTBank, have agreed to deepen collaboration on personnel welfare and financial services.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, announced this on Thursday during a courtesy visit by GTBank’s Executive Director, Mr Ahmed Liman, to Army Headquarters, Abuja.
Shaibu said the partnership will support the Army’s expansion and increased recruitment recently approved by the Presidency. He noted that a technology-driven banking system is needed to deliver seamless financial services to personnel across formations nationwide.
Under the Army’s “Soldier First” welfare policy, the COAS urged GTBank to extend Corporate Social Responsibility to wounded-in-action personnel, widows and orphans of fallen soldiers. He also requested the installation of ATMs in new and remote barracks to cut troop movement and improve access.
Liman said GTBank is ready to provide tailored solutions in line with Treasury Single Account guidelines. He listed dedicated trade desks for defence procurement Letters of Credit, secure platforms for salary and contractor payments, and institutional funds management.
He also unveiled military-focused products including the GT Patriot Account with waived charges and concessionary loans, and GT Pensions Management for Retirement Savings Accounts.
