Police in Katsina State have confirmed the killing of three officers by suspected terrorists.

‎A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu said on 27th January, 2026, a team of policemen on routine anti-crime patrol along Guga-Bakori were ambushed by some suspected armed hoodlums shooting sporadically.

‎He informed that officers responded bravely, repelling the attack, saying unfortunately, three officers paid the supreme price during the encounter while two officers sustained injuries.

‎According to the statement, the injured officers were rushed to the nearest hospital and are responding to treatment, adding that investigations have since commenced with a view to arresting the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

‎Newsbuka reports that Bakori Local Government Area is one of the several epicentres of criminality in the state where terrorists, otherwise referred to as bandits, kidnap residents en masse for ransom while others are killed in cold blood.
