Residents of Ngwama, Umuagu, Umuamosi, Umukoroukwu, Umuoleihe, Umuokegwu, Umuokee and Umuoko, all in Isiala Ngwa South, have decried the high rate of crime in their communities, calling on security agencies to up their game.
The call followed the gruesome murder of a 53 year old woman last week in Ngwama village, Isiala Ngwa South LGA , Mrs Amarachi Nwanozie by yet to be identified assailants.
A source in the community who spoke to newsbuka.com, on condition of anonymity, said the woman, who is a well known farmer in the community, disappeared last week, on July 12th, 2023.
The source informed that her sudden disappearance made the husband raise alarm which made the Personnel of Abia State Community Policing/Vigilante , Isiala Ngwa South Community Command. organise search for her throughout the community, stating that her decomposing body was discovered on Thursday as she was stripped naked with big stick inserted in her private, with her handset and a bundle of cassava stem in a bush close to her farm.
He told our reporter that the vigilante outfit after discovering the decomposing body, decided to lay ambush in case the assailants returned to the scene, informing that at least six people have been arrested in connection to the murder and handed over to the Omoba Police Division by the State Commandant of Abia State Community Policing/Vigilante, Dr. Daniel Iheadindueme.
The source called on security agencies in the area to beam their searchlight on Ngwama, Umuagu, among other communities, stressing that innocent People find it difficult to go to the farms or normal businesses on daily basis due to fear of the unknown.
Another resident in Omoba told newsbuka.com, that the high rate of crime in Omoba extending to Ngwama, Umuagu, Umuamosi, Umukoroukwu, Umuoleihe, Umuokegwu, e.t.c, has become alarming. He said the activities of Mkpuru mmiri boys is becoming very scary in these communities, emphasizing that something urgent has to be done to stem the tide.
He said some of the boys perpetuating crimes have been arrested in the past by security agencies, alleging that with the assistance of some high-profile politicians in Isiala Ngwa South, they were released, noting that they have also gone ahead with their business of unleashing terror on law abiding citizens.
The resident alleged that in a certain palm plantation located at Umuaba, Umugba also in Isiala Ngwa South, corpses of little children, undies and other items belonging to women were found, alleging that they rape, kill people for reasons best known to them.
He called on the Commissioner of Abia State, CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie and other security agencies in the State to up their game and arrest the perpetrators unleashing mayhem in these communities just as he called on the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Abia State Command, to swing into action, saying the intake of Methamphetamine (Mkpuru Mmiri) is fueling the high rate of crime in these communities.Tags: Abia State Police Command, CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, Ngwama, Police
