Town Planner Nwazue said as the rainy season is here, it is important to apply necessary professional measures to tackle the menace of flooding in Aba and other affected cities in Abia State, assuring that the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, Abia State Chapter is ready to synergize and work with the incoming administration to bring about improved physical development to the state.
In his word, “Issues of flooding has always been a problem in Aba and other parts of the State. It is important that the incoming administration of Dr. Alex Otti will build on the progress recorded by the government of the present administration of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu on the need to have an implementable Master Plan for Aba, Umuahia and Ohafia. It’s note worthy that the present administration is in the process of preparing master plans for our major cities, hence the incoming government should not discontinue this process. Therefore, I believe having these Master plans in place, will guide and aid physical planning development in the State and create more habitable cities”.
The body called on all Abians to support Dr. Alex Otti when he is finally sworn in as the governor of the State, expressing optimism of a new Abia that will favour all.
Long live Abia State,
Long live Abia NITP.
