The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the March 11 polls, High Chief Ikechi Emenike, has backed the argument that Abia is due to have an international airport.
High Chief Emenike noted that apart from providing additional facilities for customs and immigration for a state like Abia, Abians will be saved the stress of journeying to Imo State or Enugu to board a flight to any part of the world or country.
The APC Governorship candidate who stated this at the weekend, said those clamouring that Abia is long overdue to have an airport, are speaking the truth, maintaining that having an international airport in the State is capable of attracting investors who have heard about the enormous potentials in Abia but cannot access the state.
In his words, “Those making case for an international airport are very correct. Abians cannot be traveling long distances before taking care of their urgent businesses. This is why I have included it in my 23 key deliverables for 2023, and if I emerge Governor, I will not hesitate to deliver an airport to Abians”.
He reiterated his readiness to prioritise building of roads and water infrastructure if elected, noting that Abians need to have avalanche of means of transportation as obtains in some states of the federation and in other climes.
“It will not be out of place for Abia and her people to have options in the area of transport. We will improve on the infrastructure of the state by building roads as well as improving Abia’s water infrastructure”.
High Chief Emenike enjoined Abians to consider their current situation before arriving at which party to vote on Saturday, emphasizing that these 24 years have been difficult hence, the need to resist the PDP as they have not done much to ameliorate the sufferings of Abians.
