The Head National Agency for the prohibition of Trafficking of Persons NAPTIP, Abia State, Mrs Okafor Nkemdilim has solicited the support of stakeholders in the fight against Trafficking of persons in the state.
Mrs Okafor who made the call while speaking with newsmen in Umuahia, said the Agency has embarked on sensitisation and advocacy visits to 17 LGAs of the state, traditional Rulers among others, as part of strategies to check the acts in the state.
She advised parents to watch over their children and be mindful of people they hand over their children and wards to as well as those promising them heaven and earth in order to take their children.
Mrs Okafor said the advocacy and sensitisation became necessary to ensure collaboration to achieve better results in the fight against trafficking of persons, assuring that the agency is committed in the fight against trafficking of persons.
The Head of NAPTIP Abia state used the medium to call on the public to report cases of trafficking of persons to the Agency and order relevant information that will assist the Agency to eradicate the acts in the state.
She described human trafficking as acts against humanity that should be discouraged at all levels.
