As Nigerians, Abians prepare to elect leaders at different levels in 2023, the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, Abia State Chapter, says her members will not give their votes to any of the Governorship candidates who will not show his roadmap towards the physical development of Abia State.

The Institute said this call has become imperative following the backwardness, underdevelopment, poor aesthetics the State has been in since creation, stressing that time has come to ensure that Abia State is developed physically to be at par with other States in the Federation that have been developed physically.

Speaking through their Chairman in the State, Town Planner Chukwudi Stephen Nwazue, he decried that Abia State doesn’t wear a good look when compared to some neighbouring States, noting that successive administrations in the State have done their parts, and the time to have a Governor who will place premium on the physical development of the State has come.

He said to achieve the physical development of the State, the production of Master plans for the State as have been kick started by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s administration must be followed in giving Abia and her people a State of their dream physically.

Town Planner Nwazue who commended Governor Ikpeazu for paying his dues in the area of physical development of the State, reiterated that whoever that will take over from Governor Ikpeazu must advance the cause of developing Abia State physically and aesthetically.

He called on Abians in general to listen attentively to the manifestoes of the Governorship, Senatorial, House of Reps and State Assembly candidates with a view to electing those who have cogent, germane and human faced policies and programmes to execute if elected, reminding them that they cannot afford to make mistake in electing credible people to take the state to the next level of development.
