The Candidate of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, for Abia Central Senatorial District, Chuku Wachuku, has taken a swipe at those politicians who threaten electorates of discerning how they voted after the 2023 general election, describing it as fallacy.
The foremost DG, National Directorate of Employment, said such threats should not be regarded as it holds no water, pointing out that the electorates will vote in 2023 based on pedigree of people, feats achieved in previous offices held as well as the antecedents of the candidate.
Chuku Wachuku who stated these when the Chairman of Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria, OMPAN, Abia State Chapter, Chief Paddy Anyatonwu led a team of members to hand over invitation letter to him for the upcoming Town Hall Meeting of the Association, said such was not the case in the era of electronic voting, urging those indoctrinated into believing such fallacy to disregard such lies from politicians that do not have good records or policy thrust to convince Abians on why they should be voted.
He said with the BVAS, proper authentication will be done by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC before the commencement of voting, saying the system will not give rise to snatching of ballot boxes or use of thugs as was the case in previous elections in the country.
The Senatorial Candidate of the YPP for Abia Central, used the opportunity to caution those paid to destroy billboards of opponents to desist, as it is irrational to destroy billboards of people who have distinguished themselves in the past and bent on effecting changes in the society.
He also called on INEC to investigate the alleged buying and selling of Permanent Voters Cards in the State, noting that if the Commission is out to give Nigerians credible election in 2023, certain issues must not be treated with kids gloves.
On his plans for the people of Abia Central Senatorial Zone, the Economist cum wealth creator, revealed that as a technocrat with vast experience in wealth creation, he will transform Abia Central Senatorial District through his Family Economic Empowerment Programme as against the Keke Napep empowerment they were accustomed to. He said he will ensure that the N250 billion loan package available for small and medium scale business and agriculture will be made accessible for the people of the zone to do business.
He hinted of Good and Sustainable jobs not two cups of rice, wealth creation not gifts, adding that as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he will ensure the transfer of power to the next generation, saying during his days as DG, National Directorate of Employment, he introduced programme on skills acquisition, trained thousands of people in catering, fashion designing among others, noting that these were meant to make them self-reliant.
The National President Agricultural and Industrial Entrepreneurs of Nigeria (AIEN), who said the function of government at all levels is to provide infrastructure, challenged those in government not to blow it out of proportion when they do this as it is their primary duty.
He charged Abia and Nigerian youths in general to stop applauding their oppressors, emphasizing that it is time to change the system especially now that power of incumbency has been relegated to the background.
Chuku Wachuku also said if he emerges Senator, he will set up Abia Central Economic Zone, which will be private sector driven just as he will ensure that there is one industry per Local Government Area.
He appealed to Ndi Ikwuano to be mindful of those who will come to deceive them, questioning what past representatives from the area had done with their Ecological funding, promising of better days for Ndi Ikwuano, Osisioma among others under Abia Central Senatorial District.
