The association pointed out that the essence of the tour is for fact-checking and to appraise the journey of the now almost two years on the saddle by the Executive chairmen.

The statement reads, “The tour will help the media practitioners to present accurate, balanced and timely information as well as review their performances in the last two years. It will also avail the LGA Executive chairmen the opportunity to disclose to the media, how democracy has developed their areas.

The Media will continue to subject political office holders to public scrutiny and question their policies as well as competences and “as watchdogs of the society”, OMPAN will not relent in playing her primary role of speaking out to ensure everyone is playing by the rules and feeding the public with objective information to increase accountability in governance in this State”, the statement concluded.
