The Abia State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has felicitated the National President of the Union, Chief Chris Isiguzo, over the National Honours of Member of the Federal Republic (MFR) being confered on him by President Muhammadu Buhari, alongside other prominent Nigerians.
A release jointly endorsed by the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists Abia State Council , Comrade Victor Ndukwe and the Secretary, Comrade Adaeze Ralph Igbokwe and issued to newsmen on Monday, said the honour is an eloquent testimony that the Abia-born journalist has through his dedication and commitment to promoting the cause of journalism and improving the welfare of Journalists in the country, worked very hard to give the Union it’s pride of place.
According to the release, the National Honour to Chief Isiguzo did not come as a surprise but a confirmation of other such elevations, especially in recent times as he was recently elected the President of the Confederation of African Journalists (CAJ) due to his outstanding leadership dispositions which has helped a great deal in repositioning the Journalism profession in the country and beyond.
The release while appreciating the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, for the recognition on the NUJ dynamic and digital leader which is well situated, reckoned that Chief Chris Isiguzo who recently clocked one year in office in his second term as the National President of the NUJ, has within the past four years, repositioned the Union, leading to his election as the President of the Confederation of African Journalists, CAJ.
The Council further congratulated Chief Chris Isiguzo for making the Union, Profession and State proud and urged him not to relent but to continue in the noble trajectory he has chosen for himself.
