The 2023 Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Abia State, Bishop Dr. Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha has congratulated Nigerians and Abians on the occasion of the country’s 62nd Independence Anniversary.
In a congratulatory message he personally endorsed and made available to newsmen on Saturday, Bishop Onuoha thanked God for keeping Nigeria together despite myriad challenges the country is facing en route 2023 general elections.
The Methodist Bishop who applauded Nigerians for keeping faith in their leaders, urged them to pray for the leaders and continue to pray that God will keep the country safe even as the enemies of the country continue to unleash terror on the citizenry.
He congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari for navigating Nigeria and Nigerians through the rough edges these years and for taking critical decisions which have kept Nigeria going amid daunting challenges.
The cleric used the opportunity to specifically plead with the President to use the occasion of the country’s 62nd Independence Anniversary and see to the release of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.
Bishop. Dr. Onuoha, recalled that part of his plea for the release was hinged on the visit of Igbo leaders last year led by Pa Mbazulike Amaechi, revealing that in that meeting which he was part of, they pleaded with him to hand over their son to them, so that they can finish the rest as elders of the zone, adding that his release will to a large extent, forestall peace in the South-East region.
The ADC Governorship candidate also congratulated the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and Abians in general on the occasion of the 62nd Independence Anniversary, praying God to continue to keep the state safe.
He appealed to Abians to pray for a turnaround in 2023 general election even as the citizens have critical decisions to make in choosing who will pilot the affairs of the State in the next four years, expressing optimism that the election of 2023 will be successful.
Bishop. Dr. Onuoha wished Abians a joyous Independence celebration expressing hope that Nigerians will have more to celebrate during the 2023 Independence Anniversary Celebrations.
