The member representing Aba North/South in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chimaobi Ebisike, says governance is a serious business that is beyond campaigning.
Hon. Ebisike, who dropped the hint on Friday during a chat with newsmen in Aba, said on assumption of office as the representative of Aba North/South Federal Constituency, he set up an Advisory Council that furnished him with report of a feasibility study carried out on what the people of Aba need.
He said the Advisory Council assisted in giving him a policy direction about what the people of Aba were lagging, pointing out that in a bid to act on his policy trust, he embarked on various empowerment programmes which have gone a long way in ameliorating the sufferings of the people.
The Federal Lawmaker stated that so many people benefitted from the various empowerment programmes he has reeled out as testimonies still abound about the quality of items used for the empowerment programmes.
He revealed that he has insisted on using quality items for his empowerment programmes, informing that since going to the National Assembly, he has not reneged on his promise of putting smiles on the faces of the people. He told the media that he has constructed brand new schools, attracted mini stadia at Okigwe road primary school, bus stops project which will soon commence in Aba.
Ebisike stated his resolve to commence the construction of four Town Halls for communities in Aba North/South Federal Constituency, stressing that he has also concluded arrangement to renovate dilapidated town Hall gutted by fire in Aba as he is poised to serve the people he promised to better their lots.
On education, he said he has continuously registered WAEC exams for students in his Constituency just as he informed that he has also bought books numbering more than 8,000 for students in the Constituency, adding that these projects and ideas were embarked upon during his short stay in office.
Ebisike who also identified bad roads linking communities in Aba as a major problem, said he has graded 86 roads since going to the National Assembly, assuring that he will continue to attract projects in his Constituency.
He added that he is active on the floor of the House of Representatives, saying that his activism has made him belong to 13 Committees in the House, emphasizing that he has always believed in solving problems all his life.
The Lawmaker who said he does not believe in abusing or drawing unnecessary comparisons, said with the various projects and programmes he has embarked on, he has surpassed the standards set by previous representatives of the zone, pointing out that his style is to talk less but do the needful in bettering the lots of the people.
On the 2023 General Election, he charged Abians not to listen to mischief makers who peddle propaganda against the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the State, stressing that those throwing unnecessary criticisms against PDP were also part of the party, hence should share in the problems of the party if there are any.
