Ahead of the 2023 general elections, more than 500 APC supporters on Monday defected to the ruling People’s Democratic Party, in Abia State.

At the PDP ward-to-ward meeting for the six Wards of Uhie held at Mgboko Umuanunu Ward 3, with the grand finale held at Umuhuaba/Isikor primary School, the decampees pledged to work for the success of the PDP in the general election.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Chinemerem Peter said they have seen the need to belong to PDP larger family just as he extolled the achievements of the PDP led administration in the state and promised to work for its progress going forward.

The grand finale attracted the presence of party leaders and stakeholders across Uhie while the PDP flag bearer for Obingwa West State Constituency, Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr, the LG party Chairman, Chief Seth Agomuo, the Ward 3 party Chairman, Elder Augustine Nwonoruo, member representing Uhie at the State Assembly, Hon. Thomas Nkoro, Chief Ibe Nwadioha, Chief Sorochi Mark, Mazi Enyinnaya Apollos and other Uhie party stalwarts graced the occasion.

Correspondent reports that former APC stalwarts/members which included, Hon. Chinemerem Peter(political spirit), Hon. Prince Billy (APC House of Representatives aspirant), Mr. Emeka Nwankpa and other members of APC were among those who officially dumped the party for PDP.
