The Chairperson of Caretaker Committee of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Mrs Oluchi Ikechukwu has cautioned against neglect of rights and places of women in Nigerian society.
This is even as the wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs Nkechi Okezie Ikpeazu has identified women as agents of transformation in homes, communities and the the entire society.
Mrs Ikechukwu, who was addressing the press during the 12th edition of Abia Women August Delegate Conference (AWADEC) 2022 described women as the true vessel of development, transformation and stability and called upon leaders at all levels to appropriate the rich potentials of the Nigerian women.
She recalled the sacrifices made by women in their various homes and places of endeavors which have kept the wheels their families running, making it clear that without women, there is no nation.
Mrs Ikechukwu, who congratulated Abia women and members of Abia NAWOJ on the successful events of this year’s women August conference, charged them to utilize the gains of the lectures delivered by Prof Roseline Ndimele in transforming the society.
The Abia NAWOJ Chairperson also advised women to respect their husbands while charging husbands to always love their wives and bring up their children in Godly ways.
She further promised that Nigerian Women Journalists would continue in their quests for the rights of women and the less privileged.
Earlier in her address during the AWADEC conference, the wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs Nkechi Okezie Ikpeazu listed the efforts her Vicar Hope Foundation in fighting violence against women, widows and children.
Mrs Ikpeazu noted that through the the efforts of Vicar Hope, many widows and homeless families have become home owners and been uplifted from poverty noting that many poor patients have enjoyed free medical treatment courtesy of her foundation.
