As the race over who wins the People’s Democratic Party’s Governorship ticket intensifies, Chief Ncheta Omerekpe, a leading figure in the race, has charged Ugwunagbo Stakeholders and Delegates to vote as their conscience leads during the Governorship primaries of the party.
The philanthropist gave the charge on Wednesday at Ugwunagbo LGA during an interactive section with party stakeholders and delegates as he commenced the tour of LGAs in Abia ahead the primaries of the party slated for 18th May, 2022.
He said the resources of Abia State has been mismanaged for years by successive administrations in the State, stressing that the state has all it takes to compete with league of States doing well in the country.
Chief Omerekpe, who made shocking revelations as to the level of mismanagement in Abia by those in corridors of power, added that he has through his contacts, assisted Abia State Government to secure a loan from the African Development Bank, ADB, but frowned that the loan which was supposed to be channeled towards road construction was embezzled.
Chief Omerekpe, who maintained that he is eminently qualified to be the next Governor of the State, going by his track record, philanthropy, construction of roads, medical outreaches, scholarships given to Abians, revealed that he has been changing the lives of people for the past 17 years, pledging to work for Abia and her people, as the state is in a precarious situation.
He stated that Abia deserves to be counted among States in the federation that are doing well in infrastructural development, employment generation and payment of salaries of workers and pensioners, re-emphasising the need for a change in the way things are done in the state.
He charged party stakeholders and delegates to allow their conscience do the work when voting during the party’s Governorship primaries just as he enjoined them to resist all forms of inducements, instruction in whom to vote for.
Responding, the a former Transition Chairman in Ugwunagbo, Chinyere Onuoha, thanked Chief Ncheta Omerepke for recognizing that Ugwunagbo is among the LGAs in Abia State, urging him not to relent in his quest to liberate Abia and provide purposeful leadership.
On her part, the Executive Chairman, Ugwunagbo LGA, Mrs Joy Nwata, said the people of Ugwunagbo are unified, adding that who ever they endorse, the person receives the backing of all.
She added that she is happy that eminent Ngwa sons are now joining the Governorship race, wishing Chief Omerekpe well in his ambition.
Correspondent reports that the PDP, former Chairman Ugwunagbo LGA, Hon Ngozi Ekeke, former Petroleum Commissioner in the State Ezekwesiri Anaba among other stakeholders and delegates were present during the interface.
