Item Development Association (IDA) has joined other groups in demanding that the President and founder, Vision Africa International and Co-Chair Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace, Bishop Dr. Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha run for the seat of Governor of Abia State come 2023.
The leadership of Item Development Association (IDA), All the President Generals of 9 Communities of Item Okpi clan, Opinion Leaders as well as all the Traditional Rulers of 27 Autonomous Communities of Item, during a courtesy visit to Bishop Dr. Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha on Friday, unanimously appealed to the Bishop to join the race as he has all it takes to be the next Governor of the State.
Speaking through the leader of the delegation and President General, Elder Chief Kingsley Ogba Nwokoro at the country home of Bishop Dr. Sunday Onuoha in Okai Item, Bende LGA of Abia State, he said they visited the Methodist Bishop to know why he has refused to answer the clarion call from different groups as well as many eminent Nigerians to vie for the Office of the Governor of Abia State in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
He added that the call for him to join the Abia Governorship race is borne out of his contributions and sacrifices in enhancing peace in the world, Africa, Nigeria, Abia State and the entire Bende land, adding that his track record and credibility in other spheres of life has been outstanding, hence, the need for him to govern a State like Abia.
Responding, Bishop Dr. Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha, thanked Ndi Item for the visit. He revealed that over twenty groups have openly declared to participate in the 2023 general elections if he joins the Governorship race.
The 2013 Global Peace Award Winner, informed the leaders that the Church and many other groups have continued to plead with him to vie for the most exalted seat in Abia.
He reminded them that he is a Reverend Minister while assuring Ndi Item that very soon he will make a statement that will be well informed, pointing out that Item has what it takes to bring solutions to the different challenges facing the Igbo race.
Correspondent reports that high point of the visit was a special prayer offered to Dr. Bishop Onuoha by the Chairman of Item Traditional Royal Council, His Royal Highness, Eze Innocent Kalu Mba on behalf of other members of the council.
