By itself, politics is noble and wired for persons with penchant and passion for societal growth, development and general wellbeing. Somewhat and somehow, ideally speaking, personal gains are sacrificed for the benefits of the majority.
Seasoned, tested and trusted technocrats and administrators venture into politics as a payback for the society’s capital investment in them, which was gathered overtime in service.
There is normally a visible track record of what one has done, service wise, which must be arrested to by all and sundry as a testimony of the fact that the society’s investment in such an individual was not in vain.
Be that as it may, this is not to say that only technocrats and administrators are wired for politics as proven enterpreneurs have also showcased mastery in the Service called Politics.
Youths, who are seen as the future of tomorrow in my State, Abia, though not a blanket submission, see Politics as an avenue towards accumulation of wealth, without first and foremost submitting themselves to the crucibles of understanding what politics is all about, earning a legitimate living no matter how small and identify a line of action, geared towards realizing their dream of politicking.
If one engages these budding youths as to knowing if the requisite knowledge is acquired towards venturing into politics, a faux pas would be an understatement: little or nothing is known about the subject of discourse.
All that matters is that one Oga ‘mere m recommend I bu TC Chairman, Councillor etc ka m raratukwanu ose’, after which they become more stupidity personified on the elapse of the whole exercise.
Eye service is the order of the day and most alarmingly disgusting is that these persons allow themselves to be recruited into an army of haters against individuals whose views are different from that of their Oga!
Are you not ashamed as a youth that every 4 years, all your energy is dissipated on thuggery, fighting fights you do not know when it started, internet bullying as though you can, on one on one basis, face the same individual you were paid to churn out lies against. When a youth does not know his worth, his valui is pegged as same with a used sanitary pad!
The society is presently bleeding because of the lack of persons who would submit to development and most importantly maturity because the business of politics is not a tea cup venture.
What is the way forward?
To be continued.
