A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, from Ukwa, in Abia South Senatorial zone, Comrade Benedict Godson has expressed worry, discomfort and doubt, whether the Committee appointed by the National leadership of the party to reconcile aggrieved members in Abia state Chapter will actually carry out the assignment without favouritism.
He expressed the worry while fielding questions from newsmen, decrying that “rather than investigate to find out causes of the crisis and reconcile it, the leader of the Committee, Abdullahi Adamu was particular about Emenike’s absence from the meeting, even when he had sent a written response.
Comrade Godson, who was the Publicity Secretary of the Nwankpa led APC, before he found genuine reason with other party Chieftains like Chief Obi Aham, Barr. Minechi Onuoha, (the state Legal Adviser), Mazi Agodi Okoro and many others to cross over to the authentic APC, emphasized that “the utterances and unguarded statements of the Reconciliation Committee Chairman, Adamu to the press, after their meeting makes one wonder how deep the Committee carried out their assignment”.
Comrade Godson, who rejoined the party under High Chief Emenike’s leadership wondered why the Committee Chairman, and his members did not visit Abia state for fact finding to get the true position of things from the grass root members of the party.
He also expressed shock that a Committee that was set up to reconcile party members didn’t deem it reasonable to bring the key actors to the table for a discussion that would have hitherto, ended the misunderstanding.
“For instance, the former governorship candidate of APC in the 2019 Governorship election in Abia, Dr Uche Ogah, who is now a Minister was not in the meeting, yet the Chairman did not see any sense in mentioning his name while addressing the press in Abuja, but concentrated on saying that Emenike did not surface. Other key stakeholders of the party who were not at the meeting yet their names were not even mentioned by the Chairman include Dr Anyim Nyerere, Executive Commissioner, PENCOM; the 2015 Governorship candidate of the party, Lt. Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika; Former Chief of Army Staff, Barr. F. N. Nwosu; (3 times Abia Governorship aspirants, Eng. Solomon Alozie; Ag Chairman Rural Electrification, Abuja, Lt. General Ogbonna Okoro; Hon Nkiruka Onyejiocha, Deputy Chief Whip in the House of Rep and High Chief Ikechi Emenike (Chairman Governing Council, UNN Nsukka/ Leader APC Abia state, to mention just this few”.
He expressed disappointment that these people and more were not at the meeting, yet, the committee Chairman did not mention them nor ask of their where abouts only Emenike.
His utterance at the meeting, which made Emenike’s opponents rejoice, was as if he had carried out his directive to letters, showing openly that he was supporting them. He concentrated on the Emenike, as though he was the reason for the Chairman’s appointment to fault him of wrong doing.
Could this be intentional and an attempt to fulfill the assignment of a compromised agent of a flock intended to favor? Godson is of the view that for the challenges ahead in the winning of the election by APC, all parties should come to a round table discussion.
The Reconciliation Committee may not have carried out an unbiased assignment, but may have done a hit man’s job of producing a document for submission that favors our opponents, as must have been directed by their sponsors”, he explained.
“To say that Emenike did not come, when there are many stakeholders who are suppose to be invited to the meeting by the Committee is to find an empty excuse to work against him and the party which is what his opponents are clamoring for.
But I can assure you that if there is such development, Emenike’s supporters will definitely resist it with the last drop of their blood.
