The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has called on the employers to properly mentor corps members posted to them, to enable them develop their potentials.
NYSC Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, made the call on Tuesday, at the terminal parade and closing ceremony of the 2021 Batch ‘C’ Stream II Orientation Course at Umunna, Bende Local Government Area, Abia.
Ibrahim, whose speech was read by Mr Denis Jingi, Abia State Coordinator of NYSC, appealed to the employers to always accept corps members posted to them and make the necessary provisions for their welfare.
He also called on other stakeholders, including state and local government authorities as well as traditional rulers, to give the necessary encouragement to the corps members.
The NYSC boss urged the corps members to avail themselves of the scheme’s Skill Acquisition Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.
He advised them to make themselves available for COVID-19 vaccination, adding that the Federal Government’s directive on presentation of evidence of vaccination before gaining entry into offices by workers, also applied to them.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the corps members were thereafter, posted to their places of primary assignments across the 17 local government areas in the state, for their one year service.(NAN).
