Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has stated that Universities should not be left for the government alone to develop, hence making case for support from private sector and those who have seen gaps in these Universities.
The Governor who stated this on Friday, while commissioning the 44 bed Postgraduate Hostel built by an NGO (ZESPRONET), said those who have seen infrastructure deficits in their alma mater, embark on certain projects for the purposes of effecting change.
He commended ZESPRONET for deeming it necessary to give back to their alma mater, adding that their efforts will be rewarded bountifully while praying that those who will make use of the edifice, will do so in peace and achieve their aspirations.
Earlier, the International President, Zenith Environmental and Social Protection Network (ZESPRONET), Boris Chukwuemeka Oji, represented by the National President, Sir Bidwell Okere, said the need to set a new standard in Alumni Association necessitated the project.
He said the 44 bed Hostel gulped the sum of 80 million naira, revealing that it is meant to ameliorate the accommodation problems experienced by Postgraduate students of Abia State University, Ururu.
