Barely 48 hours to the Anambra Governorship election, Anambrarians have decried the heavy presence of security operatives, wondering if there was war in Anambra State.
Interacting with newsbuka.com, on Thursday, an indigene of Ihiala, Okwundu Martins, expressed worry that the heavy military presence will definitely affect turn out of eligible voters, as people will be afraid to come out and vote for the candidates of their choices.
He said though the intention of deploying security operatives may be good, on the other hand, it will instil fear in the electorate and lead to voter apathy.
Okwundu said from Wednesday night till Thursday, there has been heavy shootings, revealing that the number of security operatives in the area is more than 700.
A resident in Awka who does not want his name mentioned, said there is heavy presence of security operatives, adding that they move in trucks and Hilux wondering what will be the hope of Ndi Anambra come Saturday.
He said gunshots have been heard around Oraifite, Ogidi, Omor among other areas, praying that the will of God will be made manifest come Saturday as Anambrarians are already afraid to vote.
Also speaking, another resident of Awka, Chinyere Nnarah, said Schools have been closed down till next week Tuesday, market will be closed from Friday for one week, adding that security operatives are scattered in all the nooks and crannies of Awka, the State capital.
She wondered how the election will pan out with the heavy presence of security operatives and with the sit-at-home order by the indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), praying God to take absolute control.
