Impeachment of Plateau Speaker: Action Portrays Gov Lalong as an Effigy of Sokoto Caliphate ~ HURIWA

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has reacted to the impeachment of the Plateau State Assembly Speaker, Right Honorable Ayuba Abok.

HURIWA  in a statement jointly signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko; and National Media Affairs Officer, Miss Zainab Yusuf on Thursday, described the move as a sham, adding that the move was unconstitutional.

The rights group said the impeachment exercise is a display of political witch hunt against the Speaker who has been very active in checkmating the failures of the Governor Simon Lalong led administration in the state.

The statement contended that the removal of the speaker who had championed the need for the Ethnic Christians who are the real owners of Plateau State to be protected from Fulani terrorists and genocides, clearly indicate that the Plateau State Governor Mr. Simon Lalong is an effigy of the Sokoto caliphate.
